Family Psychoeducational Group: Caregiving and Self-Care
Supporting a loved one experiencing mental health or substance-use challenges can be rewarding, but it can also have a significant impact on a caregiver’s emotional, physical, and social well-being. This psychoeducational group will explore the realities of caregiving and the importance of caring for yourself while supporting someone else.
Participants will learn how to:
- Understand the emotional and physical impact of caregiving
- Recognize signs of ongoing stress, caregiver burnout, and compassion fatigue
- Explore how prolonged stress can affect thoughts, emotions, and relationships
- Understand caregiver guilt and the pressure to “do everything”
- Differentiate between what is within their responsibility, influence, and control
- Develop realistic, sustainable approaches to self-care and support
The goal is to help caregivers support their loved ones while also protecting their own well-being and building sustainable caregiving practices.
