Canadian Mental Health Association Simcoe County Branch Welcomes Sarah Banbury As New Chief Executive Officer

Barrie, ON – October 15, 2024 – The Canadian Mental Health Association Simcoe County Branch (CMHA SCB) is thrilled to announce the appointment of Sarah Banbury as its new Chief Executive Officer (CEO), effective November 11, 2024. Following an extensive executive search, the CMHA SCB Board of Directors are confident that Sarah’s leadership will guide the organization through its next chapter of growth and community impact.

Sarah joins CMHA SCB with a rich background in the health sector, most recently serving as Director of Surgical and Ambulatory Services and Outpatient Rehab at William Osler Health System. She has previously held the role of Director of Mental Health and Patient Flow at Southlake Regional Health Centre and brings clinical expertise as a radiation therapist.

A resident of Simcoe County, Sarah is an advocate for mental health and addiction services and has a track record of delivering impactful service delivery while navigating the health system. Sarah is looking forward to continuing the success of the current strategic plan and ultimately setting the course for CMHA SCB’s next chapter.

Sarah holds a Master of Business Administration and a Bachelor of Science in Therapeutic Radiography. She has completed specialized training in Indigenous cultural safety and mental health law.

Sarah will continue to work closely with Dr. Jennifer Fillingham, who is the current Interim CEO, and will return to her director role in November. Dr. Fillingham’s leadership since August 2024 has allowed CMHA SCB to make significant progress on numerous projects and initiatives during the transition period. The Board extends heartfelt gratitude to Dr. Fillingham for her steady leadership during this time.

“Sarah’s leadership, coupled with her dedication to creating meaningful change in the lives of those facing mental health and addiction challenges, makes her an ideal choice for CMHA SCB,” said Angela Wiggins, Chair of the CMHA SCB Board of Directors. “We are excited to have her join our team.”
