CMHA celebrates National Volunteer Week 2021
The power of people working together can bring about monumental changes. That’s why CMHA Simcoe County joins organizations across the country this week in celebrating National Volunteer Week.
The theme this year, The Value of One, The Power of Many, reflects on the acts of kindness by millions of individuals and the magic that happens when we work together towards a common purpose. This past year, we have seen firsthand how powerful volunteering can be, with people supporting family, neighbours and strangers in their community. CMHA Simcoe County is privileged to have many volunteers helping out during the pandemic, currently, we have 45 volunteers who are providing virtual support to approximately 125 clients either providing one-on-one support or co-facilitating virtual groups.
Even though volunteer activities and roles have changed over the past year, volunteers provided 3223.25 hours of their time to CMHA – Simcoe County.
According to Volunteer Canada, if volunteers were being paid, their rate of pay would be $27.00 an hour. That means our volunteers provided $87,027.75 to CMHA –Simcoe County.
Volunteers play a crucial role at CMHA. Without the dedication of volunteers, many programs offered by our branch would not be possible. As an added benefit, research shows that doing things for others strengthens our own mental health.
If you are interested in volunteering at our branch, connect with us today!
From all of us at CMHA Simcoe County, thank you to the amazing volunteers we work with every day. We truly appreciate your dedication in helping us work towards good mental health for all.
