Crisis Outreach and Support Team (COAST)/Mobile Crisis Response Teams (MCRT)

Partnered with Barrie Police Services, South Simcoe Police Services and Orillia OPP, our teams include a mental health and addictions expert, with an officer together in vehicle. The teams are dispatched through 911/police primarily – and respond to mental health calls for service, complete mental health and risk assessments, providing crisis intervention, support, service and referral navigation. The teams regularly engage in Community Collaborate and Situation Tables, offering some initial follow up on referrals received by police and the Crisis Program. Crisis Bed Unit

We have 6 Crisis Beds accessible to the community. Begin by contacting our Crisis Line for an initial risk assessment and in-person eligibility review. Our goal-focused Crisis Bed admissions are brief and our facility offers comprehensive mental health and addiction support, crisis and safety planning and referrals to ongoing services as identified and can be utilized as a diversion from hospital. Crisis Beds admissions aim to stabilize and assist individuals so that they are better prepared and empowered moving forward. These beds are voluntary and for ages 16+.

Justice Safe Beds

Integrated with our Crisis Beds Unit, the Justice Safe Beds serve as a crucial diversion from incarceration and potential criminal involvement and who do not meet criteria for hospital admission. The Justice Safe Beds are designed for individuals experiencing mental health or addiction crises and provide temporary housing, crisis support, stabilization, assistance with daily living skills, and referrals to longer-term community services and treatment. The service model is rooted in psychosocial rehabilitation and recovery, and prioritizes working collaboratively with clients to meet their individual goals and to successfully reintegrate into community. The program is voluntary and for ages 16+.
